Tens of thousands of people are affected by winter illness each year in Victoria, and influenza also causes more deaths than all other infectious diseases. The disease has been estimated to cost Australian companies more than $7 billion in lost work time each year. Can we do better in the health sector to minimise the impact and plan ahead? The Health Winter Symposium will bring together public health and infectious disease specialists, hospital leaders, primary care and other key stakeholders within Victoria’s health system aiming to improve patient experience and population health during the coming influenza season.
